Mr. Russell Nolan Jaehnig

Russell N. Jaehnig, 53, of Pittsfield passed away suddenly and peacefully at home June 20, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1970, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Mary Ann (Gerson) Jaehnig. He graduated from North Hills High School in ’89 and the Culinary Institute of America in ‘93. Russell was the Executive Chef at 21 Federal on Nantucket for over 20 years and most recently employed as Executive Chef at the Country Club of Pittsfield. Over the years he achieved much recognition, many culinary accolades, and was featured in a multitude of respected magazines and cookbooks. Russell was most proud of having cooked for so many, whether they were family, friends, or celebrated patrons. He enjoyed spending time with his girl Jen, sons Harper, Duke and their close friends. When Russell was around laughter filled the room with his humorous stories, infectious laughter, and eagerness for fun. He loved playing the piano, the guitar and having his friends and family surround him in song by the bonfire. In his off time, he enjoyed all things Pittsburgh, especially the Steelers, reading and playing with his boys. Russell is survived by his wife Jen of 19 years, sons Harper and Duke, mother; Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Gerson of Pittsburgh, father; Robert (Kathy) Jaehnig of Michigan, brothers; Mack (Kim) Jaehnig and Kent (Laura) Jaehnig, father in-law; Bill Bernbeck; nieces and nephews; Leila and Maya Bernbeck, Finn and Culver Clancy; brother in-law; David (Rima) Bernbeck, cousin; Heather (Jeremiah Clancy) Greene and many close friends among them: Jeremy Schulze, Elisabetta DiPasquale, Leslie VanSchaik, the Kirby, Lanfair, Schnackenberg, and Cotton families. He was beloved by all who knew him and will be sincerely missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 9:30 am at St. Ann’s Church in Lenox. Calling hours will be from 8:00 am to 9:15 am at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240. Celebration of life reception will follow the memorial service at the Country Club of Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, any donations will go towards supporting the Jaehnig boys as they transition through this difficult time.
