Peter Hurley

Peter K. Hurley, of 169 Valentine Rd. died Saturday. Born in Pittsfield, March 23, 1950, the son of John J. and Mary S. Rennie Hurley. He attended Lenox Schools. Pete was employed by Harold Felton Construction and as a mechanic at Wards Mobile. Those who knew Pete said he had a heart of gold. He was always helping others with car repairs and he had a great sense of humor. He was a practical joker. He once took a bumble bee that he found,and hung it from a fish line to startle anyone coming up the Hurley porch steps. Pete was a fisherman, mechanic, and all around handy man. Pete was the only Hurley boy that inherited his Mom's red hair. He is survived by his brothers James A.and Charles E. Hurley of Pittsfield, John J.and Timothy D. Hurley of Lenox, Terence M. Hurley of Auburn CA, Matthew B. Hurley of Colorado Springs, CO: and his two sisters Mary E. Armstrong of Pittsfield and Lillian A. Matelli of Bel Air, MD. He was predeceased in death by his brothers Patrick W. and Michael T. Hurley. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be a graveside service at St Ann's Cemetery in Lenox, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Waitekus, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home, in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
