Mrs. Nancy C. Scrimo
March 12, 1947 - April 3, 2022
On April 03 ,2022 Nancy joined God in Heaven after a six-year battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Nancy passed surrounded by her family’s love. She resided in Lenox MA with her Husband Tom and her Family Nancy graduated from Islip High School in 1965 and earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education/Reading Specialist from the SUNY at Cortland. She was an educator for over 40 years starting her career teaching the third grade at Commack Road Elementary School in Islip NY and ending it in retirement as a fourth grade teacher from Oak Grove School, Oak Grove, Illinois .She taught hundreds of students over the years many of whom fondly remember her National Parks Projects and hatching baby Chicks every Spring. Nancy loved to celebrate special events with her family. Nancy would always bring her warm smile and laughter. She celebrated her 75th Birthday on March 12, 2022 and her 52nd Wedding Anniversary on March 21,2022 with her husband Tom. Nancy and Tom loved to travel, especially to our National Parks. One of her favorite memories was a family trip to Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons. She also loved Acadia National Park and the seashore of Maine. She is survived by her husband Tom, their son Jeffrey T. Scrimo, Daughter in Law, Brandyn Scrimo and two beautiful Granddaughters, Jessie N. and Elyssa G. Scrimo, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves her Sister Carol Seltenright and lifelong friend Bruce Seltenright. Sister-in-Law; Carol Scrimo, sister-in-Law; Susan Crosby (Tim), Brother-in-Law; RonScrimo (Lula). Her nieces and nephew Traci, Marianne, Jennifer and Louis and her husband Tom’s nieces and nephews whom she also loved. She had a special place in her heart for her Cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Nancy was predeceased by her parents Louis J. and Ursula Jahrling, her beloved Brother Louis A. Jahrling and Brother-in-Law; Bob Scrimo. Nancy had many wonderful friends and teaching colleagues over the years and we are extremely grateful to her wonderful caregivers Cindy, Theresa, Shannon and Meghan for their tireless efforts and love. We are also thankful to all those who have called, visited, sent cards and prayed for us. We extend a special thank you to Pastor Joel of Zion’s Lutheran Church, for which she was a member, for helping us through this difficult period. There will be calling hours at the Roche Funeral Home, Lenox MA on April 6th between 4p-6p and another at Overton’s Funeral Home, Islip NY., on April 11th between 2p-4:30pm and between 7p-9:00pm. A special memorial Service will the be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Islip, NY., followed by her Christian burial at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale NY. Donations may be made in her memory to our special charities The Shriner’s Hospitals, St Jude’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
