Mrs. Mary Hughes Verchot

Mary Hughes Verchot, 74, of Lenox, died Monday morning at her home with her husband by her side. Born in Pittsfield Aug. 27, 1937, daughter of Henry M. and Margaret Hughes Parker, she was a life-long Lenox resident and 1955 graduate of Lenox High School. Mrs. Verchot was employed at the former Lenox Savings Bank, later Legacy Banks, for 30 years, retiring in 1999 as head teller. Earlier in her career she had worked in the bookkeeping department at First Agricultural Bank in Pittsfield for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Lenox and enjoyed vacationing in Maine and watching the Boston Red Sox. Mrs. Verchot and her husband, Thomas J. Verchot, were married Jan. 9, 1969, in St. Ann's Church. Besides her husband of Lenox she is survived by her four cousins, Marjorie Flynn of Pittsfield, Shirley Zurrin of Lanesboro, Judy Petersoli and husband Paul of Lee, and Charles McDarby and wife Linda of Lenox. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Mrs. Mary H. Parker Verchot of Lenox, who died July 2, 2012, will be Saturday morning at 9 a.m. from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. There are no calling hours and private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
