OBITUARY - MARVIN JOSEPH SCHNALL - FEBRUARY 28, 1927 TO JUNE 19, 2019 Marvin Joseph Schnall was born in the Bronx, NY, on February 28, 1927. He attended Stuyvesant High School, City College of New York, Columbia University, and Brooklyn Polytechnic University. He was awarded BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Phi Lambda Upsilon Honor Societies. Marvin was employed as a Coatings Chemist in several paint and chemical companies, including Troy Chemical Corporation, where he retired in 1993 as Manager of the Coatings Laboratory. Professional activities included President of the NY Society of Coatings Technology and Member Emeritus of the American Chemical Society. He wrote and presented papers on Coatings Additives to societies and universities. Honors included Kienle, Trigg, and PaVac Awards. Marvin served in the US Navy during World War II, with an Honorable Discharge in 1946. He was a member of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and a founding member of Chapel Hill Kehillah. Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris; children Pamela Shrimpton and husband Craig, John Schnall and husband Luciano Borges, and Jennifer Lockhart and husband Stephen Lockhart; grandchildren Hannah Rose Carrasco and husband Joshua Carrasco, Benjamin Lockhart and wife Lydia Lockhart, and Justine Lockhart; niece Shelly Quigley and husband Bill Quigley, nephew William Schneer, and grand-niece Brandy Wasilewski. Marvin was pre-deceased by his sister Evelyn Schneer of Philadelphia, PA and her husband Simon Schneer. A Memorial will be held at the Roche Funeral Home at 120 Main St. in Lenox, MA on Sunday, June 23rd at 12:00 noon. You are welcome to join our family afterwards at the Devonshire Estates, 329 Pittsfield Road in Lenox, Apt. 130, beginning at 2 pm.
