Mr. Joseph Francis Burke Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joseph Francis Burke Jr, of Pittsfield, died May 28 at Berkshire Medical Center following a long battle with the disease of alcoholism. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on June 24, 1963 to Renee and Joseph Burke Sr. in Pittsfield. Though he was born and died in Pittsfield, Joe was a lifelong Lenox guy. He graduated from Lenox Memorial High School and immediately began a lifelong career as a builder, owning JDB Builders in Lenox for many years. He flourished as a builder, overseeing several large building projects including the Cranwell Development In addition to his building acumen, Joe was known for his generosity. He was the guy that would do anything for his friends as well as for a random stranger who needed a hand. He loved and doted on his cat Chloe. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, being involved in his children’s activities especially motocross racing and helping people for no reason at all. Joe is survived by his children who he loved dearly and was immensely proud of. Joe Burke, Casey Wright (Matt), Haley Briggs (Shane) and Riley Burke, his grandchildren Keagan Burke and Harper and Lena Briggs, his mother, Renee Burke (Connie Boyle), his sisters Kathy DeGaramo (Joel) and Loree Zeif (Rob), many nieces and nephews and his ex-wife Dawn Burke, his high school sweetheart who remained his partner in parenting after 26 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Burke Sr. Visitation will be Monday June 6 at Roche Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 pm with a brief service at 4:45 followed by a reception for family and friends at the home of Dawn Burke at 20 Brown St, Lenoxdale. Interment will be private with family at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee.
