John "Jack" Halpin

June 10, 2015

John "Jack" Patrick Halpin, 87, a Lenox, Mass. native, died at his home in Roswell, Ga., on June 10, 2015. Born on January 15, 1928, he was the son of Alexander and Alice Moran Halpin. He attended Lenox High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bryant College. During World War II, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Albany, USS Little Rock and USS Wisconsin. He started his career in accounting at Schweitzer Paper Company and retired from the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Jack loved being surrounded by his family and will be missed dearly. He was extremely generous. Jack never met a stranger, always finding a common thread with new acquaintances. He enjoyed storytelling, coin collecting, reading and was an avid sports fan. Active in his community, he served as selectman of the town of Lenox, was a member of the school board and the Knights of Columbus. Jack is survived by his three children. John Halpin Jr. of Roswell, Ga., Jane Halpin of Sugar Hill, Ga. and Alexander Halpin (Kate) of Flowery Branch, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jessica Halpin, John Halpin III, Brian Thornell, Sarah Juszczuk (Tomasz), Jill Klink (Chuck), Mary Kate Halpin and Jacob Halpin; five great-grandchildren, Lillian Halpin, Isabelle Halpin, Brinson Klink, Henry Klink and David Juszczuk; and beloved cousin, Jane Fallon of Lenox, Mass. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Bufe Halpin; and sons, Matthew and Michael Halpin. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Monday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Roswell Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, 74 Pine Street, Stockbridge, MA 01262.
