January 17, 1925 - August 25, 2021
Helen A. Janulewicz Wesolowski, 96, passed away on Wednesday, August 25th. Helen was born in Holyoke, MA, on January 17, 1925 to Wincenty Joseph Janulewicz and Jadwiga Kisielewicz who were both born in Grodno, Poland, and came to the United States in 1913. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1942. Helen worked as a secretary prior to marrying Albin P. Wesolowski on June 23, 1951, at Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke. “Lynne” and Ben moved from Holyoke to Lenox in 1958. Together they raised two children, Paul and Lynne. She was a communicant of St. Ann Church. Lynne worked as Office Manager at Glad Rags in Lenox from 1980 until two weeks prior to her death. She loved to organize, mark jewelry and scarves. In addition, she helped choose the next season’s styles, worked on displays and advertising. She even had a following on Facebook! She had an amazing sense of style and flair and she used it to her full capability at the shop. Lynne, also known as “Mama West”, made sure everyone she ever met was family. She was a model of strength and resolve who exuded so much love and generosity of spirit. Her home was warm and welcoming to all. Lynne led by example – her motto was “to always be kind and nice and to do the right thing.” She practiced kindness every day. Lynne enjoyed gardening, shopping, travelling to Las Vegas (or any casino) and dining out. She loved Broadway plays, Tony Bennett concerts and dance performances at Jacob’s Pillow. Her favorite days were Wednesdays when she went to the Price Chopper with her son, and Friday’s when she saw Amy for her hair appointment, followed by “the ladies who lunch.” Lynne leaves her two children: Paul and his wife Sandra of Lee, Lynne of Lenox, Lee of Pittsfield, and her “other daughter” Kathy Roche of Old Chatham, NY. She also leaves her beloved cat Abby. MaMa West also was much loved as a babcia to Mercedes Goldstein, Gabe Love, Horace Williams, Sara Ward Morin, and a doting aunt to Ilona and Kevin Thompson. Helen was predeceased by her husband Albin on March 31, 2009, and her sister, Ann Thompson, and her godson, Jason Thompson. The funeral for Mrs. Helen A. Wesolowski will be held on Monday, August 30th at 11:00am at St. Ann’s Church. Helen’s godson Father John A. Koziol, Pastor of St. Philip Benizi Church in Jonesboro, GA, will celebrate the Mass, along with Monsignor John Bonzagni. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
