Edward Charles Kennedy

Edward Charles Kennedy, 89, formally of Lenox, died Feb. 9 at his home in Naples, Fla. Born in Pittsfield October 2, 1925, to the late Robert and Katherine Maloney Kennedy, he lived most of his life in Lenox before moving to Naples in 2007. Mr. Kennedy attended St. Joseph's High School, graduating in 1943. Following graduation he enlisted in the coast guard. He was a veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. Mr. Kennedy returned from the war to go on to work in the Power Transformer Division of the General Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1985. His first wife, the late Phyllis Farrell Kennedy pre-deceased him 1981. Prior to moving to Naples, Mr. Kennedy was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Lenox and he was a 4th degree member of the William F. Davitt Counsel, Knights of Columbus. He was a very knowledgeable and avid fan of his favorite teams, The New York Yankees and The University of Notre Dame. He is survived by his wife Sue Anne Jones Kennedy of Naples, Fla.; his son, Edward Kennedy of Brush Prairie, Wash.; his daughter; Patricia Hakes of Lorida, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Savannah, Jeremie, and Joshua; and his brother, John Kennedy of Lincoln, Mass. Besides his parents and first wife, Phyllis, Edward was pre-deceased by his four brothers, Robert, James, William, and Lawrence. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Monday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be prior to the funeral from 9:30 -10:30. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Ann's Church in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
