Reverend Duncan McQueen

Reverend Duncan Robert McQueen of Eaton Lane, died March 10, 2015 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center. Duncan was born in Mineola, NY on March 13, 1929 and was the only child of William L. McQueen and Helen Krukowski McQueen. He attended Elmont, NY schools and graduated from Sewanhaka High School, Muskingum University, and the General Theological Seminary. Duncan was ordained into the priesthood in 1954. He worked at St. Martin's Church in Providence, RI, was rector of St. Mary's Church in Warwick, RI and served as Dean of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Suva, Fiji. As Dean, he oversaw the completion of the Cathedral as well as the expansion of Holy Trinity School. On returning to the United States, he was rector of St. Matthew's Church in Worcester, MA before becoming rector of Trinity Parish, Lenox in 1981. Duncan retired in 1996. While living in Berkshire County, Duncan was President of the Berkshire Garden Center, the Stockbridge Singers of the Berkshire Concert Choir, and the Western of Massachusetts Master Gardener's Association. He was chairperson of the Diocese of Western Massachusetts partnership with the Diocese of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania during which he made three visits to Tanzania. His wife, Pat McQueen, predeceased him in 2007. Duncan is survived by his four children and their families: Stephanie Margaret McQueen of Houston, Texas; Laurie Elizabeth McQueen and her wife, Lucia of Vienna, VA; Andrew Thompson MacQueen and his wife, Katherine of Lenox; and James Duncan McQueen and his wife, Lindsay of Stamford, CT. He leaves five grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Nyle McQueen and his son, Ramesses, Emma and Madeleine Lavoie, and Revan and Bronwynn MacQueen. FUNERAL NOTICE: A burial service will be celebrated at Trinity Church, Lenox on April 11, 2015 at 1:30p.m. Father Michael Tuck will officiate. Duncan's ashes will then be interred in the columbarium at Trinity Church. Gifts in Duncan's memory may be made to the Men and Boy's Choir of the Cathedral of All Saint's, 62 South Swan St, Albany, NY 12210 or to the Berkshire Botanical Garden, PO Box 826 Stockbridge, MA 01262.
