Charles Redfern

December 19, 1927 - March 10, 2012

Charles "Chuck" Moss Redfern, 84, of Kimball Farms Retirement Community, 235 Walker St., died Saturday evening at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in New Jersey, Dec. 19, 1927, son of John and Esther Moss Redfern, he attended South Orange schools, was a 1945 graduate of Columbia High School, and a 1950 graduate of Drew University in Madison, NJ. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Redfern served for 18 months as a Navy Corpsman in various naval hospitals from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Mr. Redfern enjoyed a career in the insurance industry and worked for many years as a computer specialist for the Aetna Insurance Co. in Hartford, CT., retiring in 1991. He had been a member of Trinity Church in Lenox for several years and enjoyed singing, classical music, traveling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Redfern and his wife, Diana Berger Redfern, were married in Minneapolis, MN, Sept. 18, 1954. Besides his wife, of Lenox, he is survived by his son, Charles M. Redfern, Jr. and wife Andrea of Hebron, CT; one daughter, Catherine Levesque and husband David of South Windsor, CT; three grandchildren, Caleb Redfern and Hunter and Renee Levesque; and one brother, John Redfern of East Harwich, MA. He was predeceased by his sister, June Redfern Waugh. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Charles Moss Redfern of Lenox will be Wednesday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church in Lenox. Inurnment will follow in the Trinity Parish Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Redfern's name may be made to Trinity Church, 88 Walker Street, Lenox, MA 01240 or in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox.
