Allen Herrmann

January 22, 1954 - September 8, 2012

Allen M. Herrmann, 58, of Melrose and for many years a resident of Lenox, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born January 22, 1954 in Newton, MA, the son of Allen and Mary McCulloch Robertson Hermann, he attended Lenox School for Boys and was a 1973 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School. While in high school he played hockey for the Lenox Community Center Hockey Club. He later went on to attend Paul Smith College. For thirty years, Mr. Herrmann worked as the groundskeeper and crematory operator of Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Prior to that, he was employed at the Pittsfield Cemetery for several years. He enjoyed all types of music and was a fan of Formula One racing. He is survived by his sister, Carole H. Armstrong and her husband Bill of West Stockbridge; and his brother, Robert S. Herrmann of Great Barrington. He was predeceased by his brother David A. Herrmann in 1988. A memorial service for Mr. Allen M. Herrmann, of Melrose, who died September 8, 2012, will be held at 5pm, Thursday, October 25th at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240, celebrated by the Rev. Jennifer Gregg, Priest Associate St. Stephen's Church. A calling hour will precede the service from 4-5pm.
