Mrs. Norma Flynn

Norma Flynn of Lenox peacefully entered the Kingdom of her kind and merciful Lord on Friday, March 17th. She was the center of the universe to her family, and she will be greatly missed. Norma Bartini Flynn 92 grew up in Lee Ma. She was the daughter of Julian and Victoria Georgini Bartini. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Lee High School in 1948 and went on to become a Registered Nurse when she graduated from St Luke's nursing School. She graduated despite being caught sneaking out of the dormitory by the nuns to attend a local dance. She later made a homemade salami and cheese on Italian bread for her future husband, and they were together ever since. Norma went on to raise 7 children in Lenox. Her husband Bob and Norma opened the Heritage House Tavern in Lenox, where Norma made all the deserts. Her cooking was legend. As she raised her children and many grandchildren (12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren) her house was always filled with people and fantastic treats. She cooked the most amazing Prime Rib and in 1988 won the "Best Apple Pie" in the Berkshires. It would not be uncommon to have two large tables filled with family and friends at Norma's for Sunday afternoon dinners. Norma always had the table set with the finest china and loved family gatherings. Norma Flynn lived a great life filled with travel, restaurants, and a nice cocktail with good friends. She tended to the most beautiful flower gardens at her home. She was strong, classy, funny and dignified. As much as she liked a fantastic time, she also could be tough as nails and firm in her beliefs. She could debate with the best of them. She was well informed and let you know it. She would zip through at least two crossword puzzles a day. Norma loved all animals and always had a dog and several cats nearby. Her little dog Leo and cat Simba will miss her treats and love. But most important to her was her family that she was mother and shepherd of. She guided a supported her daughters Deborah Hodgkins (Christopher), Kathie Johns (Marty), Cheryl Baruch (Phil), Erin Pizzuto (Mark) and her sons Edward (AnnMarie) and Daniel (Patty). She was predeceased by her husband Robert and the most beautiful girl in the world...Wendy. She leaves her sisters Elaine Feltre and Nancy Lynch. She was predeceased by her brother Joe who helped build Bob and Norma's home. She also leaves behind her two best friends, Pat Messer and Alice Halpin who she spoke and laughed with every day. The celebration of life and funeral for Norma Flynn will be at St Ann's Church in Lenox on Saturday March 25th at 11am. Calling hours will be before the funeral at Roche Funeral Home from 9am to 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Berkshire County Association for Retarded Citizens in honor of Wendy and Norma in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240. Goodbye our sweet, classy lady. May the good Lord welcome you to Paradise as Bob and Wendy with tears of joy in their eyes greet you at the heavenly gates. Gods speed dear Norma, you will be missed.
