John W. Kearin, Sr.

John W. Kearin, Sr., 85, of 130 High Street, died Wednesday at his home. Born in Pittsfield November 23, 1929, the son of John S. and Hilda Huber Kearin, he attended Lee Public Schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lee High School. Mr. Kearin served in the U.S. Air Force from December 1, 1948 until his honorable discharge on May 16, 1950. He owned and operated Kearin's Auto Body in Lee for many years and later Kearin's Auto Center in Otis, and from 1970-75 he and his wife owned and operated Gert and John's Tavern in Lee. A Jack of all trades, he enjoyed helping friends with all types of projects and bought several houses over the years that he renovated himself and later sold. He was a member of the Lenox Senior Center where he enjoyed playing Bingo, and also enjoyed attending church suppers and his children's, and more recently his grandchildren's, sporting events. He and his wife, Gertrude B. Sarrasin Kearin, were married in Lowell, MA on December 29, 1951. Besides his wife of Lee Mr. Kearin is survived by his children; John W. "Jack" Kearin, Jr. and his wife Tamara of Otis, Diane R. "Dee" Shepardson of Lee, William L. "Wally" Kearin of East Lee, and Ronald J. Kearin and his wife Leana of Lee; grandchildren Timothy K. Shepardson, Jr., James E. Shepardson and his wife Erika, and Kristen Shepardson, John W. Kearin III, Jessica Kearin and Jake M. Kearin and his wife Natasha, William Kearin, Jr., Scott Kearin, Jacqueline R. Kearin, and Nicole and Alex Kearin; and great-grandchildren Sabrina, Kirstyn, Makai, Skylar, Jasmine, Marcus, John Kearin IV, and Carissa, Calla, Aurora, Anastasia, Jade, Everett, Eila, and Bella. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his great-grandson, Gage Peitras; his son-in-law, Timothy K. Shepardson Sr.; his brother, Robert Kearin; and sister, Dorothy Kearin. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Mr. John W. Kearin Sr. who died February 4, 2015, will be celebrated Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 6 p.m, at the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox by the Rev. Bill Neil, pastor First Congregational Church of Lee. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday from 4 p.m, until the time of the funeral at 6.
